I know I haven't posted so much here lately, but rest assured I do have various fannish things in the pipeline! No, I haven't abandoned my pet project, thanks to the encouragement of several kind friends and readers. I've been distracted with snippets of other stories in the works and some travel writing these days, but the muse recently prodded me to start with the 3rd chronological segment of this story. I'm afraid it's unedited at the moment, but I was afraid that if I didn't do a mind dump I'd lose momentum to write.

If you feel like beta-ing or giving suggestions, I'd be very grateful!

Did I mention that I owe [info]wiccagirl24 for her gorgeous MFU and David McCallum images and [info]agentxpndble for her awesome Patrick McGoohan caps and scans? Oh, and the cap used in the FO banner was shamelessly stolen from [info]thrushies. The light textures by [info]edensflowers.

I swear I've been meaning to update this community with all the stuff accumulating on my computer, but writing fanfic and real life have distracted me from doing so. I still have a lot more icons, mostly MFU-related, that I'm working on (500+!), but I figured I ought to post up the first half of the batch if I didn't want my computer to freeze uploading everything. I'm trying to get back into icon-making again, so please bear with me as I try to figure stuff out again. This is part 1, with the MFU and Patrick McGoohan icons going in the next post to avoid image overload.

Credit Where Credit's Due:
Err, I have to admit I'm having difficulty remembering where I snag all of the images I use as a lot of them have been collected over a long period of time; many thanks to [info]buongiornodaisy for the Timothy Dalton caps, [info]agentxpndble for the Danger Man scans and Thomasinia caps, [info]gandydancer for other Patrick McGoohan images and [info]ladylavinia for various Daniel Craig/007 images; many apologies to those I've forgotten. The light textures by [info]edensflowers.

Finally, here's the second installment of The Parallel Lines Sometimes Meet Affair in honor of the (now belated) 80th birthday of Patrick McGoohan. Unfortunately I keep writing segments all out of order and threw out a substantial plotline involving a character in danger of becoming a Mary Sue, but I hope that it won't take a year to write the next sequential segment. Scarily enough, this chapter might be the only thing I've written to date that doesn't have a single James Bond/Ian Fleming reference!

Fandoms: The Man from UNCLE, Danger Man (crossover)

Disclaimer: I don't own any of these guys. I just think they're really awesome when they work together.

Author's Note: Yes, this is a timeshifted piece, but I'm really trying to retain the essence of both shows. Especially trying to update Illya canon to the present day has been a challenge.

Much love to [info]gandydancer who inspires me to keep writing more John Drake and to all the wonderfully supportive members of this community who have been so kind.

One can never make too many Robert Vaughn, David McCallum, Diana Rigg or Patrick McGoohan icons.

That's what I keep telling myself. I know I'm reusing a couple of images (I've made over 2,500 RV, DMC and PMCG icons alone), but hopefully the new icons look different from my older work.

Basically, I've done most of the stuff I've been meaning to get around to doing for ages. More Hustle and Robert Vaughn (finally pt. 1 of the much belated birthday post!) are up on our scheduled programming as well as some classic actresses.

This batch is probably my most experimental yet as I learn how to work with textures, so please bear with me as I figure out what works.

Apparently my last post was too big, so I had to split it up to include these Danger Man icons. Pt. 1 including MFU and related actors, Alias and related actors and 007 icons can be found here.

The weird look on John Drake's face in the "Position of Trust" icons as Donald Pleasance's character is awkwardly hovering around him happens when DP's character is singing the Southside public school song that disguised Drake is supposed to know but doesn't. If you have a really sharp eye, Lois Maxwell, aka Miss Moneypenny, also appears in this episode.

Ummm, so you know how I've been promising a way belated Robert Vaughn birthday post for ages? I have a nasty feeling it's been since November.

Sorry, folks, but it's still a long way in coming as the Solovision site was down when I checked it a few days ago. You'll just have to put up with more Man from UNCLE, mostly IK/David McCallum, instead. Along with redoing a few MFU/DMC icons, I redid a couple of old Alias icons that I thought would look better with some retouching, and there are a bunch of new Danger Man season 1 icons, too (see this next post, split for size). I'm also posting up a bunch of James Bond icons I forgot to post up earlier. I finally changed the header for [info]retro_activity, too; I just love this cover for From Russia With Love.

I've been working on my first ever fanfic lately, and I figure that this is as good a place as any to post fandom-related stuff. This is my second major revision of the beginning of this fic; other parts are in progress.

The piece I've started is a crossover between two of my favorite spy shows ever, Danger Man and the Man from UNCLE; despite the campiness that characterized later MfU, it's amazing how much all of our agents have in common. This fic is set in the present - much as I'd like to be faithful to canon, I'm afraid I'm not experienced enough that I could convincingly write the 60's yet, although I hope that I've captured some of the spirit of that era. All events that took place in both respective series are considered canon within the context of this story.

The title of this fic comes from a favorite Danger Man episode of mine of the same name minus "affair" where the British John Drake collaborates with a Russian agent for the first time. It seemed like an appropriate start for a cross-cultural spy partnership with our favorite agents from UNCLE; you'd think all of those 60's spies would run into each other at least once considering that there can only be so many megalomaniacs out there :P

I'd greatly appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks for taking the time out to read this!

The Parallel Lines Sometimes Meet Affair
Fandoms: The Man from UNCLE, Danger Man and a tie-in to the James Bond movie Goldeneye because I have a perverse sense of humor and it seemed like an appropriate way to introduce the "updated" 60's feel. There are a few random references to John le Carré if you squint hard enough, and some might say the Prisoner, too. I think, read and watch too much espionage media than is probably healthy.

Rating: PG-13 for some future violence consistent with the levels you see in both series

Disclaimer: I don't own any of these guys. I just like seeing what happens when they run into each other.

Author's Note: In the off-chance that you were wondering, Napoleon, Illya and John Drake are not going to end up in a slashy threesome at any point, but I do consider this to be slashy. Some might see it as gen, which is fine by me.

I am forever indebted to M-9 and the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, without whose assistance I could not write this story.
